The 12-metre electric coach directly takes on the likes of Olectra CX2, Mozev Electric coach, and JBM Galaxy E12 among others. With a seating capacity for 44 passenger (2+2 layout), the Magna EV rightly matches the capacity of push-back seater or semi-sleeper configuration of private ‘omnibuses’ in India. The coach’s GVW rating is 19,500 kgs.

In terms of design and build, Tata’s flagship coach offers stylish a premium exterior impression. On the inside, the bus features ergonomically-designed driver console, ambient lighting, and comfortable passenger seats. Luggage space under the chassis and hat rack inside the cabin is quite decent.

Moving on, the electric powertrain of the Magna coach features an axle-mounted traction motor rated to a maximum power of 245 kW. A modular Lithium-ion battery pack powers the motor, which is likely to be customizable as per buyer’s requirements. The system also incorporates Regenerative Braking technology for higher operational efficiency.

As a result, the Magna EV claims a driving range of about 240 – 280 kms in single charge in AC mode. Fast Charging technology enables the battery pack to replenish to full charge in about 2.5 hours.
