VinFast EB 8 and EB 12 Electric buses debut at Busworld Europe 2025

VinFast EB 8 and EB 12 are technologically-advanced EVs efficient powertrain and fast charging capabilities. The buses will enter operations in EU markets from 2026 onwards.

VinFast has debuted its sustainable public transport solutions for the first time in Europe at the on-going Busworld Europe 2025 at Brussels, Belgium. The company two battery-electric bus models – the Vinfast EB 8 and EB 12 – are designed to meet the mass-mobility needs of the European cities. The e-buses will be made in Vietnam and exported to the European markets.

As the nomenclature suggests, the EB 8 is an 8-metre long city bus, while the EB 12 is a 12-m, 3-door model. Both the buses comply to the EU engineering and safety standards. In fact, the EB 12 already homologated to meet UNECE and CE regulations and ready for the operators in Europe.

Both the models are equipped with LFP battery packs sourced from trusted battery makers such as CATL and Gotion. The VinFast EB 8 features a 359 kWh battery pack and 200 kW traction motor, guaranteeing driving range of 290 km on single charge. The e-bus can be fast-charged at power sources up to 120 kW. It can seat up to 24 passengers, and comes loaded with automatic climate control, air suspension, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist and Hill-start Assist.

The VinFast EB 12, on the other hand, is powered by two wheel-hub motors of 125 kW power each, sourcing energy from a larger 422 kWh battery pack. With a max speed of 80 kmph, the e-bus offers a driving range of over 400 kms as per SORT 2 tests. Fast-charging up to 140 kW is enabled through a CCS2 port.

The 12-metre electric bus can carry up to 90 passengers (34 seats). It is equipped with a dual-zone climate control system using a heat pump, air suspension, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Hill-start Assist, and Traction Control. VinFast EB 12 is also available with an ADAS suite that includes driver monitoring and blind spot and collision warnings.

VinFast is operating over 300 electric bus in its home market since 2021. With a annual production capacity of 1,500 to 2,000 buses, the company is now targeting European city bus markets, especially Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, and Central and Eastern Europe.
