Vayve Mobility Eva: India’s first solar-powered, 2-seat electric car | Auto Expo 2025
Launched for an introductory starting price of ₹3.25 lakhs, the Vayve Mobility Eva is a cute little electric car featuring solar panels over the roof that can potentially offer up to 3,000 kms of free charging annually.
One of the ingenious and affordable EV on display at the Auto Expo 2025 Motor Show is ‘Eva’ by Vayve Mobility. The Pune-based startup has officially launched its 2-seat electric micro-car with solar-charging capabilities for domestic buyers. The EV is open for prebooking, with customer deliveries scheduled in the second half of next year.

The Eva will be offered with three battery pack options – 9 kWh, 12 kWh, and 18 kWh – offering a driving range of 125 kms, 175 kms, and 250 kms respectively. Buyers can also opt for flexible battery subscription option, the company says. In addition, the startup promises comprehensive warranty for vehicle and battery pack depending on the variant. The high-spec variant of Eva is priced at ₹5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Importantly, the solar panel roof is optional for the buyers to choose. Vayve claims that the solar charging can potentially cover about 30 percent of average urban driving needs, providing up to 3,000 kms of free charging in a year. Users can by default use the car’s CCS2 fast charging system.
Moving on, the Eva comes loaded with liquid-cooling system for battery pack, OTA updates, speed-sensing door locks, panoramic glass sunroof, and a chiller box, among others. The car’s claimed top speed is 70 kmph, with 0-40 kmph acceleration in just 5 seconds.
The cost-efficiency of the microcar is its strongest USP. According to the manufacturer, the Eva bears a running cost of ₹0.5 per km, which is just one-tenth of costs of a petrol hatchback. The EV’s light weight and compact design helps in achieving higher energy efficiency and cheaper running and maintenance costs.

Given the massive reception for the MG Comet, microcars are very much in sync with the sensibilities of urban car buyers in India. EVs like Vayve Eva are decent and sustainable alternatives to conventional petrol hatchbacks for these city users. Also a great option for buyers looking for a second car to complement their large family cars.
