BharatBenz launches BB1924 upgraded heavy-duty bus chassis in India
With a GVW of 19.5T, the Bharatbenz BB1924 guarantees higher payload capacity, lower operating costs, and enhanced passenger comfort to capitalize on the country’s growing intercity bus market.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) launched the BB1924, the upgraded heavy-duty bus designed specifically for India’s rapidly expanding intercity bus segment. The new bus chassis positions BharatBenz to target the premium intercity bus chassis space, complementing the already available 1624 chassis that is a big hit in the market.
The BB1924 with a GVW of 19,500 kg enables higher passenger capacity of up to 51+1+1 seats and expanded luggage space. The chassis is powered by OBD-II OM926, 6-cylinder diesel engine with turbocharger and intercooler, producing 241 hp of power and 850 Nm of flat torque over a wide RPM range. The engine is mated to a 6-speed synchromesh gearbox optimized for highway efficiency.
Built on BharatBenz’s 92 percent localized supply chain, the chassis delivers superior cost competitiveness and parts availability. The brand’s extensive network of 398 authorized touchpoints across the country ensures timely service and spare parts support, according to the company. The bus comes with a 6-year or 6 lakh km powertrain warranty.

Most importantly, enhanced safety is a big plus of the BharatBenz BB1924. It comes loaded with advanced systems such as ABS, Electronic Vehicle Stability Control (EVSC) and a CAN based, ECU controlled electromagnetic retarder with 5-stage control mechanism. The high-tensile steel chassis provides superior structural integrity and crash protection, with factory-fitted Michelin radial tubeless tires for improved traction and durability. Cruise control and Brake Hold assist are also on the list.
