Yutong U15, T14E e-buses secure Busworld Grand Awards in Bus and Coach categories

Yutong U15 secured the prestigious “Grand Award Bus” accolade, while the Yutong T14E was awarded the “Grand Award Coach” in Busworld Vehicle Awards as part of the on-going Busworld Europe 2025 exposition.

The 2025 Busworld Vehicle Awards in Brussels delivered a definitive message on the state of electric mobility, with Yutong securing the top honors in ‘Bus’ and ‘Coach’ categories. The Yutong U15 electric city bus earned the Grand Award Bus, while the T14E e-coach claimed the Grand Award Coach. These accolades recognize the significant leap in vehicle engineering and efficiency of the Chinese brand, giving a tough fight to established European competitors.

The 15-meter, three-axle Yutong U15 premium city bus has also won Busworld Vehicle Design Award in the ‘Bus’ category, along with ‘Labels of Excellence’ titles for ‘Ecology’ and ‘Safety’ categories. This holistic recognition signals a successful integration of core electric technology, especially the battery pack safety and energy efficiency, within a robust, operator-friendly platform.

The e-bus offers a maximum driving range of 850 km under standard SORT2 conditions, a figure that hints at the operators for unprecedented operational flexibility and charging downtime management. Designed for high-capacity urban arteries, the Yutong U15 comfortably accommodates up to 90 passengers.

Furthermore, the integration of the proprietary Link+ fleet management system ensures that the vehicle’s high performance is supported by real-time operational monitoring and optimization tools, essential for modern transit networks. All these attributes make Yutong U15 e-bus a strong, leading contender in the European markets in its class.

Yutong T14E redefines long-haul e-mobility

In the coach category, the 14-m Yutong T14E won the Grand Award Coach by effectively addressing the range anxiety that has traditionally challenged long-distance electric travel. The battery-electric coach is equipped with two battery options (621 kWh or 704 kWh), delivering a maximum range of up to 850 km. This capability is crucial for cross-country routes, especially for trans-European trips.

Technological features such as the Continuous Damping Control (CDC) system, combined with air suspension, demonstrate superior ride quality and stability. Equally important is the vehicle’s charging capability, which supports a dual-charger maximum input of 1,400 A, allowing the coach to recharge from 12 to 100 percent SoC in approximately 1.2 hours. Experts appreciated this high-power, rapid refueling capability as a game-changer for intercity operations in Europe.

Moreover, underpinning the excellence of both the buses is Yutong’s ‘EV Long-Life Tech’. The strategy attempts to align the operational lifespan of both the vehicle and its high-density battery at 15 years or 1.5 million kilometers. This approach is critical, since it shifts the industry conversation from maximizing single-charge range to optimizing TCO through durability.
