Scania 560G XT SUPER series: Heavy-duty trucks with advanced aggregates
Scania India has debuted its ‘Super’ series range of heavy-duty trucks in the Indian market. With a new, advanced 13-litre diesel engine, transmission and other aggregates, these trucks promise about 10 percent fuel savings than the previous generation.
Volkswagen Group-owned Scania has always been a modest player in the premium, heavy-duty truck market in India. Although the brand’s focus in the country has largely been on the mining segments, the company has now acknowledged its plans to expand into the on-road haulage segment in the coming years.

In a significant step towards its vision, Scania India has unveiled its latest range of heavy-duty trucks, named as ‘Super’ series. Available in the brand’s quintessential G-series truck platform, the ‘Super‘ moniker marks a leap forward in terms of reliability, performance, efficiency, and ownership.

At the launch event, the product on display was a Scania 560G XT SUPER 8×4 chassis. On the face of it, the new G-series day cab features refreshed styling, the front face looks very robust and muscular. The ‘SUPER’ moniker on the radiator grille and stickering on the cabin presents a fresh image to the Scania truck in India.
Advanced ‘Super’ 13-litre engine
The Super series Scania trucks are equipped with the new, state-of-the-art 13-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine generating an output of 560 hp and 3,600 Nm torque. This globally renowned powertrain was recently introduced in Scania’s buses and coaches in global markets as well. It is designed for the upcoming Euro 7 emission standards, with an aim to last over two million kilometres. The Scania 560G XT SUPER in India is BS-VI compliant, with a twin-SCR exhaust aftertreatment system.
The engine boasts an ingenious and compact design. For instance, the fuel filters are are positioned on the ‘cold’, non-turbo side of the motor, which enhances better access and faster servicing. Scania India claims that the new engine enables 10 percent fuel savings as against the previous generation trucks in India. Further, the ‘Super’ series engines can current run on 20% bio-diesel/ HVO fuel mix, and is ready for gas fuels as well.

Moving on, the Super series trucks come with new Scania Opticruise gearbox with fully-automated clutch control. Scania claims that the new transmission is offers smoother gear shifts and extended service life, especially in heavy-duty working conditions. In addition, the truck series offers 97 percent usable fuel tank reserve, thereby guaranteeing longer driving range and shorter turnaround.
With the launch of the ‘Super’ truck, Scania India is guaranteeing a superior uptime benchmark for its customers. The company is also committed to the market, offering a 360-degree buyer package that includes service solutions, telematics and flexible financing options as well. On the whole, the ‘Super’ series is not just a new engine. It is marks a new era for the Swedish brand in India, redefining its product proposition and ownership experience.
