Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: The flagship, pricey import SUV now in India
The high performance Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is priced at ₹48.99 lakhs; comes loaded with TSI petrol engine (204 PS), 7-speed DSG, Level 2 ADAS, and class-leading interiors.
Volkswagen India recently introduced its latest sporty and high-performance SUV from its ‘R‘ sub-brand – the Tiguan R-line – in the local market. Built on the MQB EVO platform, this Tiguan boasts of a new chassis generation, cabin technologies and other aggregates for superior driving dynamics and ride experience.
The Tiguan R-Line offers a new design language featuring a bold and powerful look with LED Plus headlights and a glass-covered horizontal strip. The ‘R’ inspired, 19-inch ‘Coventry’ alloy wheels and horizontal LED strip in the rear offer a distinctive look to the car. The SUV’s unique silhouette and athletic shoulder lines, together with an expansive panoramic sunroof, is simply amazing.

The interiors, on the other hand, are adorned with ‘R’ inserts on front sport comfort seats, while also featuring an illuminated ‘R’ logo on the dashboard. The all-new Tiguan R-Line is equipped with ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, illuminated door handle recesses, and sporty stainless steel pedals. What’s so impressive about this car is its cabin experience. Features such as “Ergo active’’ seats with massage function and adjustable lumbar support and Air-Care Climatronic (3-zone AC) are simply exceptional.
At the heart of this ‘R’ SUV is its 2.0-litre TSI EVO engine. Mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission with ‘4Motion’ all-wheel drive capability, the turbo petrol engine offers 204 PS of peak power and 320 Nm of torque. Further, the car comes with Vehicle Dynamics Manager (XDS) that implements wheel-specific braking interventions and adjustments of the shock absorber damping, towards a neutral, stable, agile and precise ride quality.

Next, the Tiguan R-Line scores high on active safety and drivers assist. A suite of 21 Level 2 ADAS features are ready to offer class-leading driving confidence to the drivers. This apart, the car’s package includes 9-airbags, TPMS, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control, Park Assist, and Park Distance Control. Notably, the car has also received a 5-Star EURO NCAP safety rating.
