Tata Prima G.35K 8×4: India’s first LNG heavy-duty Tipper | Auto Expo 2023

Tata Motors is aggressively sprucing-up its Prima range of trucks with premium quality and tech-savviness. The Prima G.35K LNG is the latest effort from the truck maker in this regard, resulting in what can be called as India’s first LNG-powered heavy-duty tipper. The truck recently debuted at the Auto Expo 2023 Motor Show, Greater Noida.

Ushering in a viable low-emission alternative powertrain technology for the tipper segment, the Tata Prima G.35K is designed to be fuel-efficient and highly reliable for maximum uptime and lower TCO in mining and construction applications, according to the manufacturer.

The LNG tipper is available in 35-tonne and 28-tonne GVW avatars, with day- or sleeper cab options. Load body options include 23m3 Box, 18m3 Box and 19m3 Scoop. The gas tanks are neatly integrated in the side frame of the chassis, without affecting the load body or tipping functionality of the truck.

At the heart of Prima G.35K is its Cummins 6.7-litre gas engine, similar to the one found in the new Tata Signa G.48T CNG truck, making 280 hp of max power and 1,100 Nm of peak torque in 35T version. A heavy-duty 9-speed manual gearbox does the transmission duties in the truck that comes with HR210 rear axle.

For continuous operations, the Prima LNG tipper comes with dual fuel tank options (from 300-600 litres), rendering a range between 150-300 kms with full tank of gas. This is certainly an adequate range for tipper operations, without affecting the tipper’s payload or load bay area, as against the diesel tipper.

We have already spoken a lot on the new Prima’s ‘Premium Tough’ cabin and ADAS technologies. The ergonomically-designed cabin looks appealing and functional, while the washable moulder interior trims offer enhanced maintainability for tippers.

The G.35K comes loaded with driver comfort and advanced safety features including Hill Start Aid (HSA), Active Traction Control (ATC), Driver Monitoring System (DMS), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ‘Fleet Edge‘ Advanced telematics and OTA diagnosis.

In addition, the option of ADAS such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Collision Mitigation System (CMS), and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) is available for Prima LNG tipper as well.
