10 Exciting New Bikes Expected In 2017

Every new year is a whole new beginning. For all motorcycle enthusiasts, this year is going to be exciting and different, as numerous bikes of varied genres are going to be launched in the Indian market. From exciting models from BMW Motorrad to first-ever ‘made-in-India’ electric bike, the year of 2017 holds plethora of surprises.

Here is the list of expected new launches that are sure to arouse excitement among bikers in India.

#1. BMW G310 GS

Adventure enthusiasts can rejoice, as the RE Himalayan will finally have a real alternative, again from an exotic brand. The BMW G310, with it muscular styling, sturdy chassis, and 313cc single cylinder engine, will be locally made in India. It is expected to be priced around INR 2.8 lakhs.

With styling updates way more than what you would expect, the MY2017 KTM 390 Duke and RC 390 with new lightweight trellis frame chassis and BS IV-compliant 373cc engine will hit the market in another couple of months. Prices expected to be little higher than before, around INR 2.1 lakhs for the Duke and INR 2.5 lakhs for RC 390.

Rivals: Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300

With 33.6 hp power out of the same 313cc engine as the BMW G310 GS, this mid-displacement naked bike will heat up the segment. Impressive styling and build quality will be its high points, with an expected price of INR 2.2 lakhs.

#4. DSK Benelli 302 R

Using the parallel-twin engine from the TNT 300, the Benelli 302 R will sport aerodynamic styling, body graphics, dynamic steel trellis frame, and 17-inch rims with Metzeler tyres. It will be priced around INR 3.1 lakhs.

#5. Yamaha MT-03

As a lighter and more affordable sibling to the YZF-R3, the MT-03 will also join the 300cc naked motorcycle segment, with its 321cc twin-cylinder engine producing 41.4 hp. Sharing most of the mechanical components from the R3, the new bike is likely to be priced around INR 2.90 lakhs.

#6. TVS Apache RTR 300

With the RTR 200 clinching IMOTY 2016, the 300 will be a fully-faired motorbike with a 313cc engine sourced from BMW G310 series. The production bike is expected to carry over design and styling cues from the Akula 310 concept (shown above), with improved performance and refinement. Likely to be priced at INR 2.2 lakhs.

#7. KTM 200 Duke, RC 200

The 2017 KTM 200 Duke and RC 200 gets refreshed styling that is likely to heat up the segment. The engine and its performance may remain untouched, with pricing around INR 1.60 lakhs (Duke) and INR 2.0 lakhs (RC200).

#8. Yamaha FZ 250/ Fazer 250

Yamaha Fazer 250

With a 250cc oil-cooled engine, the Yamaha ZF 250 will be positioned between the R15 and R3. Styling resembles that of the Yamaha M-Slaz, but expect a muscular outlook on this sport commuter. Likely to be priced around INR 1.5 lakhs.

This ‘premium monkey bike’ renders itself to be a fun-loving tiny weirdo with a 135 cc engine producing 13 hp. The company is expected to offer premium features and customization options for the bike, along with a higher price tag around INR 70,000.

If you believe that going electric is smart, you are to be greeted by India’s first electric motorcycle that also hits the right chord on every front. Taking on the 125cc commuter segment, the Tork can hit a top speed of 85 kmph with a riding range around 100 kms on a single charge.
