2026 Tata Punch Facelift: Packing more punch with a new engine option
The facelifted Tata Punch packs more power than its predecessor, while maintaining its place in the budget-car market.
Tata Motors recently unveiled the all-new Tata Punch (Facelift Version), and it is all the hype! Boasting a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine capable of churning out approximately 120 hp, this new model showcases a staggering 36 percent increase in power compared to the Revotron 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine. The Punch retains the twin-cylinder iCNG version with AMT option as well.

The Punch scored top points in terms of safety, having received 5 stars from the various crash tests conducted by Bharat NCAP. Featuring 6 airbags as standard, the Punch shifts from being the petite younger brother of the Nexon to now fighting neck and neck with players of the likes of the flamboyant Hyundai Exter, the economical Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and the slightly more expensive, feature-dense, Mahindra XUV 3XO.
Starting at about ₹5.59 lakhs, the Punch positions itself as the ideal budget car, where one does not feel the lack of technology. Featuring a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, this car looks like Tata’s answer to the growing demand for wireless connectivity and ease-of-access in today’s vehicles. The Punch comes with a 360-degree surround camera system, digital clusters, and wireless charging facilities, along with features such as automatic climate control, cruise control, and electrically adjustable seats with lumbar support.

The new ‘iTurbo’ engine, borrowed from the car’s bigger sibling Tata Nexon, scores high on the performance metrics, significantly improving power at lower RPMs. The turbocharged variant features a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, nothing fancy, but promises a whooping mileage of 20 kmpl. The same can be said about the automatic variant, delivering 18.8 kmpl with the help of a 5-speed AMT that also offers two drive modes: Eco and City.
The 2026 Tata Punch is a value proposition for buyers who don’t want to break the bank. With the latest technology and features, there has never been a better time to consider the Punch as the ideal car under the ₹6 lakh budget.
