Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S records a whooping 941 km range on a single charge

Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S had an average energy consumption of just 9.2 kWh per 100 kms, that corresponds to just 1 litre of diesel per 100 km when converted to a diesel equivalent!

In a recent efficiency test conducted on a circuit in Nardò, Italy, Volkswagen’s latest electric car ID.7 Pro S has achieved an exceptional driving mileage of 941 kms in single charge. This is significantly higher than the company’s claimed WLTP range (combined) of up to 709 kms.

The manufacturer claims that the test car was in its “standard technology package” with no modifications whatsoever. The test circuit also represented a wide range of real-life traffic scenarios and endurance levels, it adds. The average speed of the car during the test was 29 kmph, corresponding to the average rush hour speeds of cars in European cities.

During the efficiency test, the ID.7 Pro S had recorded an exceptional low average consumption of just 9.2 kWh/100 km. Converted to a diesel equivalent, the average consumption of the car would be just 1 litre per 100 km!

Built on VW’s MEB e-car platform, the ID.7 Pro S is equipped with a 86 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. The electric drive motor integrated into the rear axle develops a maximum torque of 545 Nm. Acceleration from 0-100 kmph takes just 6.6 seconds.

In terms of charging capabilities, the electric car boasts DC charging capacity of up to 200 kW. It takes on energy for a 244 km range in just 10 minutes, according to Volkswagen. At full DC charging capacity, the battery is charged from 10 to 80 per cent SoC in about 26 minutes.

The latest range feat of Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S signifies rapid advancements of EVs on the question of range practicality. The car’s impressive drag coefficient of just 0.23 points to its aerodynamic engineering. Its exceptional energy efficiency puts in spotlight VW’s technological sophistication.

Launched last year, the ID.7 range is available in both saloon and estate (station wagon) versions. A best sellers in VW’s electric stable already, the car is also a serious contender in the long-range EV market in Europe.
