2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid: Sedan to the core; sophistication at its peak
The ingenuity of the all-new Toyota Camry Hybrid lies in its technological sophistication and equipment levels, especially the hybrid system with a Li-ion battery.

The latest, ninth-generation Toyota Camry sedan is now available in the Indian market in its quintessential petrol-hybrid avatar. The car is equipped with the Japanese brand’s 5th-generation Hybrid technology featuring a bigger battery pack for a punchy performance. It is priced at ₹48 lakhs (ex-showroom), available only as fully-loaded model.
The ingenuity of this premium sedan lies in its technological sophistication and equipment levels. At the heart of the new Camry is Toyota’s 5th Generation Hybrid Technology featuring a high-capacity Lithium-ion battery and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. It supports the car in its robust performance and efficiency by offering 169 kW of maximum output and pure-EV driving mode.
An upgraded 4-cylinder, 2.7-litre ‘Dynamic Force Engine’ delivering an output of 187 PS of power and 221 Nm of torque is also in place. The Camry deploys an e-CVT (electronic – continuously variable transmission) to offer multiple driving modes with a 10-speed Sequential Shift mode.

Likewise, the new Toyota Camry comes loaded with a host of passive and active safety systems (ADAS) under Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0). Active safety is ensured by Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with full-speed range, Lane Departure Alert and Lane Tracing Assist for alerts and enhanced lane-keeping, and Automatic High Beam.
On the other hand, 9 SRS airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist, Parking Assist, Vehicle Stability and Traction control systems, a 360-degree Panoramic Rear-View Monitor, and Hill Start Assist, among others, augment the drive safety of the car.
Design wise, the new Camry boasts a low-slung, ‘hammerhead’ front and sleek, elegant rear styling with C-shaped LED DRLs, derived from Toyota’s global design concept of “Energetic Beauty”. The sedan is fairly long 4.92 metres, with a wheelbase of 2.82 metres, giving a very serene and premium appeal in the sides, augmented by sharp-looking 18-inch alloys.

On the inside, the new dashboard design and cabin embellishments present an upmarket ambience. New 12.3-inch Multi-Information Display (MID) dominates the dashboard, while a nine-speaker JBL audio system, 3-Zone climate control system, and 10-way power adjust driver and passenger seats are few of the highlights of the new Camry.
On the whole, new car is slightly costlier than the out-going Camry Hybrid, but comes loaded with leading technologies that positions it in direct competition to BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-class. Unlike the previous versions of the Toyota Camry Hybrid brought to India as CKD units, the new model will be locally assembled at the company’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka.
