(Maruti) Suzuki Ignis Motocross Style Edition Is Simply Brilliant
Previewed at 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon; unlikely to be introduced in India anytime soon.
The just-launched Maruti Suzuki Ignis is distinctive, with its design and styling so quirky both inside and out. Yet, the car did seems to catch the buyers imagination, and appears to be a runaway success with strong bookings and long waiting periods. I would appreciate a bit of sportness in the car’s appearance, perhaps a “cross” edition with enhanced and rugged appeal would suffice. And that’s exactly what the Japanese-spec Suzuki Ignis Motocross Style Edition previews!

Surprisingly, the Ignis is simply brilliant in the motocross livery, in spite of its taller appearance and tiny proportions. The yellow-ish paint job complemented with kinky graphics is enchanting, while the 6-spoke matte brown alloys with off-road tyres and red brake calipers, matt-black finish bumpers, and a unique roof spoiler gives the Ignis a rugged look. The exhaust is also new.
The Ignis is simply brilliant in motocross livery, in spite of its taller appearance and tiny proportions.
On the inside, the Ignis Motocross Style Edition boasts recaro sport seats and a roll cage. The driving pedals are metal-finish, while the cabin elements and door trims gets yellow-grey treatment. The rest of the dashboard and equipments are the same as the regular car.

The Motocross Style package does not include any mechanical changes to the car. The 1.2-litre K12B VVT petrol engine and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit are paired to either a 5-speed transmission or an AMT.
It is highly unlikely that this sportier iteration of the Ignis compact crossover is launched in India, at least this year. Maruti Suzuki is getting ready for a slew of new launches for this year, do check out this list to know more!
