Mahindra bags order for 35,000 Scorpio Pik Up from Indonesia

Mahindra Scorpio Pik Ups are manufactured at the company’s Nashik plant for global markets; powered by reliable 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) will supply 35,000 units of Scorpio Pik Up single-cab to Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, an Indonesian state-owned enterprise, before the end of this year. The latest and largest export order comes from the country’s Koperasi (Cooperatives) for first-mile aggregation of farm goods and play a key role in enhancing logistics and rural economy.

Under this partnership, Mahindra and Agrinas Pangan Nusantara will work together to equip Koperasi with robust, reliable pickup trucks to ensure effective and seamless flow of fresh supplies from farmers directly to the marketplace, thereby bridging the gap between producer and consumer. This collaboration aims to enhance rural logistics and enable villages to become independent centers of economic growth.

Mahindra Scorpio Pik Ups have a significant market appeal in export markets, thanks to durability, engine reliability, payload capacity, and low operating costs. They are popular in countries such as Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Indonesia, and also in South American nations, to name a few. The vehicles are manufactured at and exported from Mahindra’s Nashik plant in India.

The Scorpio Pik Up is powered by the proven 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel engine, generating 140 hp power at 3,750 rpm and 320-330 Nm of torque between 1,500-2,800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, although Mahindra is offering automatic option in select markets. The vehicle boasts a payload capacity of 1,195 kgs for the 4×2 and 1,095 kgs for the 4×4 variants.

The pick-up truck comes loaded with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Micro Hybrid (start/ stop) feature, Cruise Control, and LOW drive mode in 4×4 variants, to name a few. In certain markets like South Africa and Australia, Mahindra is offering a customized range of high-quality accessories for the Pik Up. It takes on the likes of Isuzu D-Max, Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Nissan Navara, to name a few.
