2025 Mercedes-AMG G 63: The ‘reinvented’ cult, performance SUV launched in India
The all-new Mercedes-AMG G 63 has been launched in India for a starting price of ₹3.6 crore. The high-performance SUV presents the most significant evolution of the iconic G-Class ever.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen has never been just a car, but it’s always been more of a ‘cult’ statement – a symbol of luxury, power, and off-road prowess. The Mercedes-AMG G-Class, the most bespoke, performance-oriented version of the G-Wagen, has captivated the world with its timeless design and unmatched exclusivity since its launch in 2018.

The latest iteration of the G-Class boasts fundamental model redesign and transformative upgrades. The SUV has been re-engineered with new chassis, body, engines and gearbox, mechanical aggregates including steering and suspension, driver assistance systems, and so on.
It is in that note that the new G 63 gains prominence with its presence in India. The flagship SUV’s launch in the Indian market signified the German marque’s dedication to bring the “most desirable” cars from its global lineup. About 120 G 63s from the model’s first batch has already been reserved for India. As with every G-Class, the new Mercedes-AMG G 63 is also fully hand-built in Graz, Austria.
More importantly, the G 63 is available in India with ‘G MANUFAKTUR‘ services – the coveted individualization (customization) programme exclusive for the G-Class. Buyers can choose from a range of 29 exterior paint and 31 interior upholstery options to their personal sensibilities.
In terms of design and styling, the G 63 is differentiated with AMG-specific treatment including flared wheel arches, aggressive-looking front grille and bumper, and so on. On the inside, the SUV is equipped with digitized dashboard comprising of infotainment and off-road cockpit.
Further, at the heart of the new G 63 is the AMG’s hand built 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine that is electrified with a 48 V Mild-Hybrid system. The engine delivers 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with torque converter, along with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, transfers power to the wheels.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 also features AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension system for superior on-road and off-road handling, while an advanced ‘Driving Assistance package’ with Blind Spot Assist and Active Distance Assist Distronic are also on the list.
