2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA, GLA 45 AMG Facelifts Unveiled
Indian launch of the new GLA facelift is expected to happen later this year.
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the refreshed MY2018 GLA-Class tiny SUV at the just began 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. More than two years after its debut, the GLA has undergone a mid-term refresh with improved exterior styling and additional features inside the cabin. The new car goes on sale in Germany with immediate effect, along with the performance-oriented GLA45 AMG facelift as well.
The tweaked styling of the GLA on the lines of its latest sibling GLC presents a more-pronounced SUV character, especially over the front fascia. The side profile seems largely unchanged, except for the new dark-pattern alloy wheels. The rear gets a modified ‘edgy’ bumper too, with piano black plastic cladding. For the top-spec AMG variant, dramatic styling elements like sharper-looking grille, high-gloss black inserts, high-performance LED headlamps, and exotic multi-spoke matt black or titanium grey 20-inch alloys.
On the inside, the new updates are pretty extensive, thanks to the black-ash-wood color tone, 8-inch free-standing infotainment display with rear-view camera and smartphone integration, and fresh instrumentation panel. A 360-degree view camera and a sporty interior package is also available as option. The GLA45 AMG, on the other hand, comes with exclusive interior treatments including red contrast top stitching and ‘AMG’ badging all-around.
An optional is an off-road comfort suspension that raises the ride height by 30 mm for improved off-road ability. The Active Brake Assist and Attention Assist safety features are standard in the Euro-spec GLA range, although they may not be a part of standard equipment on the Indian-spec GLA.
