2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited | Auto Expo Live
Look who joined us at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo! The legendary SUV specialist Jeep unveiled three of its products – Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee SRT – and entered one of the largest car market in the globe. The FCA-owned (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) brand will start their sales by mid-2016. The Wrangler, one of the renowned off-roader across the globe, will come into India as CBU to start with, but the company will gradually localise the entire model line-up.
In India, the Wrangler will be powered by a 2.8-litre DOHC I-4 CRD turbo diesel engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. This engine can make up to 177 hp (132 kW) and 409 Nm of max torque. The SUV will be equipped with off-roading features such as Command-Trac Shift-On-Fly 4×4 system, Hill Start, and Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) technology.
As evident from the design, the nostalgic cues of the original Jeep of the last century is still intact, thanks to the celebrated grille coupled with the rounded, old-school sealed-beam headlamps. The large and protruding dull black front bumpers, together with the jut out wheel arches give the SUV its macho looks. The perfectly angled pillars and window layouts, along with the outside visible door hinges bring an old-school appeal to the SUV.
Inside, the Wrangler gets tough and utilitarian cabin including the upright-standing dashboard, chunky 3-spoke steering wheel, and new-age instrument dials. The steering controls are for entertainment and navigation; also for the premium Alpine music system.
