SML Isuzu ‘Global Series’ LCV & ICV Trucks – Auto Expo 2018
The brand-new truck cabin is derived from Isuzu’s global design philosophy.
At the 2018 Auto Expo, SML Isuzu (SMLI) has unveiled new range of trucks models named ‘Global Series’ (GS). The newly designed truck cabin will gradually replace the quintessential Mazda cab design that the brand is holding to since mid 1980s in the entire LCV and ICV truck ranges. The interior dashboard layout is also revamped in the ‘GS’ models to suit the modern needs of the buyers.
Three new trucks on display are Samrat GS HD19, Sartaj GS CNG with turbocharger and intercooler, Samrat GS Tipper chassis. SMLI has also introduced the CNG-variant of the ‘Executive LX‘ tourist and staff application air-conditioned bus powered by a turbo-charged engine for improved performance on par with diesel.
With regard to the new Global Series (GS) truck range, several key design and engineering improvements have been carried out to suit the unique requirements of the Indian market. Apart from the refreshing exterior front fascia styling with large and clear headlamps, new grille design, elongated side-view mirrors, and bigger side windows, the front chassis frame underneath has been reworked. The frontal multi leaf-spring suspension has been tweaked to offer better ride quality, while improved seating position with tiltable centre seat offers great comfort inside.
The dashboard and instrumentation layout is all-new. The new 2-spoke steering wheel and handy gearshift level are great to hold, while effective AC/ blower vents along with the button controls and rear sliding-glass door are utilitarian. The instrumentation dials are impressively new, including the driver information display that offers various info related to the truck and engine. Apart from regular odo reading and trip meter, the display even shows fault codes with clear description of the error.
