At the ongoing Auto Expo, Greater Noida, Mahindra Trucks and Buses division has exhibited the newly introduced BS IV-variant of Tourister ‘Comfio’ midi bus, which the company says is tweaked for improved safety and comfort levels. The bus will be available for staff transportation applications to begin with, and in due course, will be extended for school and tourist applications, adds the company.

The new Comfio is available in two varaints – T32 and T40. The former is a 7.8 tonne GVW 7.9-metre long version with a wheelbase of 4.2-metre. The latter is a 9.6-metre long 8.7 GVW bus with a wheelbase of 5.2-metres. The bus is built on ladder-type C-section frame. The exterior styling is dominated by dual-tone front face, larger windshield and side window panels, and balanced proportions.

Mahindra Tourister Comfio BS IV Bus is tweaked for improved safety and comfort levels, according to the manufacturer.

On the inside, the Comfio is neatly laid-out with spacious aisle, 2+2 reclining seating, LED roof ambient lighting, and easily accessible hat racks. The driver’s working area is dominated by erect 3-spoke steering wheel, easy-to-read instrumentation, a 7-inch multi-utility screen for reverse and front camera and driver information system, and adjustable seat.

The Tourister Comfio features a 3.3-litre Mahindra CRDe diesel engine that produces an output of 115 hp at 2,800 rpm and 325 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,200 rpm. The gearbox is a 5-speed manual synchromesh type with a 280 mm single dry plate diaphragm clutch. The bus is equipped with semi-elliptical multi-leaf spring suspension with AFB and shock absorbers in the front wheels, while parabolic leaf springs does the job at the rear. The bus also comes with dual-circuit S-cam air brakes with auto slack adjusters and ABS assist.
