Mahindra Jeeto Transit Minivan CNG (Urban City Taxi) – Auto Expo 2018
Targeted at city cab aggregators like Ola or Uber; available in CNG avatar as well.
At the 2018 Auto Expo, Mahindra showcased a couple of all-new value-added commercial vehicle models including the Jeeto ‘Transit’ Minivan CNG aimed at the growing taxi segment in cities. Built on the popular Jeeto mini truck platform, the minivan features completely built body and roof, along with sealed glass side and rear windows. This is the most premium variant in the entire Jeeto Minivan line-up.
Design wise, the Jeeto Transit features blackened roof and B- and C-pillars, stylish 5-spoke alloy wheels, and ‘Transit’ badging. Rest of the styling is same as the regular Jeeto minivan. Mahindra claims that the semi-forward design of the minivan, with longer wheelbase of 2,250 mm, is optimised for safety and comfort. The chassis and body is durable enough for arduous taxi applications in cities, it adds.
On the inside, the vehicle features driver + 3 seating, individual seat belts, and GPS navigation screen. The dashboard is similar to Jeeto pickup, as are the driver and co-passenger seating comfort. Notably, key features this vehicle misses out are power-steering and air-conditioning options. Even in the cab segment, these features are now considered essential.
The Jeeto Minivan CNG is powered by the same 625 cc single Cylinder, water-cooled engine that delivers diesel-equivalent power output of 16 hp and 38 Nm torque. It is paired to a 4-speed manual synchromesh gearbox. The front axle is suspended using macpherson strut, while the rear axle features semi-trailing Arm. Front brake is disc-type, unlike the rear.
