Mahindra Electric SUV India

As India’s first electric SUV, the e-KUV100 heralds a new generation of EVs, claims Mahindra.

As a part of its theme “Future of Mobility” at Auto Expo, Greater Noida this year, Mahindra has unveiled the electrified variant of its popular KUV100 mini SUV. This is the third electric vehicle by the company in the passenger car category. Apart from an electric powertrain, the new battery-electric SUV features a number of connected technologies to meet the norms of future mobility.

The Mahindra eKUV100 features a city-friendly electric motor and automatic transmission, making it more suitable for city driving styles, claims the manufacturer. With a driving range of over 140 km on full charge, the car is equipped with a optional fast charging technology which can extend its range by 80 percent in less than an hour.

As future mobility may involve a lot of connectivity, the new electric SUV demonstrates new connected technologies like remote diagnosis, cabin pre-cooling, driving pattern and battery health monitor, location tracking, and smart-phone connectivity. The dashboard and interior layout remains inherited from the conventional KUV100.

Mahindra eKUV100 Battery Electric SUV is likely to be commercially launched in India this year.

In terms of exterior looks, the eKUV100 is refreshingly distinctive, in sync with its zero-emission technology inside. The LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs, along with the partially closed nose grille and LED fog lamps, dominates the front fascia. The side profile is differentiated by blue-accent alloys and electric badging, while the rear profile features clear LED tail lamps and grey-tailgate accent. Otherwise, the rest of the styling elements are largely similar to regular KUV100.
