Eicher ‘Skyline Pro E’ with ‘REVOLO’ Smart Electric Buses Technology

Eicher Trucks and Buses (ETB) is marking a grand entry in the growing electric bus segment in India with the launch of its first-ever electrified product –  ‘Skyline Pro E‘ 9-metre battery-electric bus. The company’s technology partner is KPIT Technologies, who’s indigenously developed electrification technology ‘REVOLO’ will power the zero-emission bus.

Designed for a wide range of versatile applications including buses, the REVOLO technology has a unique architecture that allows it to operate on a lower voltage. The system significantly regenerates energy to have optimum driving range with the smallest possible battery. It also boasts a modular engineering design that suits Indian conditions, adds Eicher.

The Skyline Pro E smart electric bus is claimed to offer a driving range of 177 kms on full charge with air-conditioning turned on. The vehicle achieves 36 percent energy regeneration, which means less than 0.8 units of electricity consumption per km. There is also a top-up charger for en route charging, along with an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), making the vehicle a ‘smart’ machine. Eicher also says that the e-bus is compliant to highest safety standards, including ‘Nail Penetration’ test conducted for batteries.

Eicher’s electric bus is certified to ply on Indian roads, and will be manufactured at VECV’s production facility in Indore. The company has announced that its existing dealerships and service network will provide support and maintenance efforts for operating its electric buses. The ‘Skyline Pro’ bus platform is known for its safety, comfort, and efficiency standards, and together with REVOLO, the company is adding smart and sustainable attributes to the bus.

The 9-metre electric bus will compete against the likes of BYD eBuzz K7,Tata Starbus Ultra Electric, and Ashok Leyland Circuit battery-electric buses in the Indian market.
