Mahindra Jawa 350: Indian Launch before March 2019
Four-stroke Jawa 350 OHC generates 27.73 PS of peak power at 6,500 rpm.
Last year, Mahindra and Mahindra´s subsidiary firm Classic Legends Private Limited (CLPL) became the licensee for the Jawa Moto brand of motorcycles based in Czech. Thus, the come back of the iconic two-wheeler marque that dominated the local market decades back was imminent. Pawan Goenka, MD of the home-grown auto conglomerate, in a recent interaction with MoneyControl, has confirmed that the first Jawa model will be launched in the Indian market before the end of FY 2018-19, i.e. March 2019. Mahindra is also expected to preview the model at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo, Greater Noida, scheduled for February next year.
So, which motorcycle under Jawa brand are they referring to? It is most likely to be Jawa 350 OHC, a modern classic that was launched in Czech Republic just this year. The first impression that this bikes makes is, perhaps, nostalgic indulgence. It´s the retro-styling of the motorcycle, which in may ways reflects the original styling of the Jawa-CZ 350 of 1970s. This includes lots of chrome embellishments on the bodywork and minimalist design.

Powering the Jawa 350 OHC is a 397 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine that is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike can deliver a max power of 27.73 PS at 6,500 rpm and peak torque of 30.6 Nm of at 5,000 rpm. Jawa Moto claims that the bike can make-out a top speed 130 kmph.
The Jawa 350 is ABS-assisted, in fact, the first motorcycle under the Czech marque to get the braking assistance technology. There is a 280 mm brake disc upfront, while a 160 mm drum brake does the job at the rear. The suspension system includes 150 mm telescopic forks and 80 mm telescopic shock at front and rear respectively. The 160 kg weighing bike gets electric start, tachometer, and 12-litre fuel tank capacity. The motorcycle, once launched, can absolutely make a strong rival for Royal Enfield 350 Classic and Bullet 350.
