Fiat X6S Sedan Spied Testing With Grand Siena’s Shell

Expected to enter production in Argentina by the end of this year; shares platform with the X6H hatchback.

Unlike the test mule, Fiat X6S will will borrow styling cues from the Euro-spec Aegea sedan, with distinctive front and rear fascia

New spy shots of the all-new sedan version from the FCA’s Project X6H for the Latin American region has surfaced. The upcoming car, code-named X6S, was seen donning the body of Grand Siena. It new sedan is expected to replace already discontinued Linea and the Grand Siena in the region.

Although wearing the body shell of the Grand Siena, it is learnt that the car inside is whole-new, with the chassis, suspension, rear axle, and other mechanicals from the newly reworked X6H platform. Apparent from the images, the test mule is seen with bloated rear quarter-panel and engine housing up front, with a high-held hood elongated bumper. Design wise, the sedan will borrow styling cues from the Euro-spec Aegea, along with a fresh face and rear profile. The X6H hatch and the new sedan may even end up having similar front fascia.

The X6S sedan will be wider and longer than the Grand Siena (which is a bit smaller than Linea). It will be made of same grade steel as the Fiat Toro pickup and Jeep Renegade tiny SUV. The car is expected to be lighter than Linea, with improved impact absorption for enhanced occupants safety. FCA has invested over $ 650 million in its Cordoba plant in Argentina on a modernized assembly line for the X6S sedan.

As far as engine line-up, the X6H is expected to feature 1.3-litre Firefly and 1.8 E.torQ EVO petrol engines. The former will be offered in two state of tunes – 101 hp and 134 Nm and 109 hp and 140 Nm of torque. The 1.8 engine producing 135 hp and 184 Nm will be reserved for high-end trims. This engine borrowed from the 2017 Jeep Renegade and Toro pickup will feature start/stop technology and Flexi-fuel option.
