Suzuki Motorcycles India has launched three variants of its Gixxer range of high-end bikes falling under 150cc category. This includes Gixxer SP and Gixxer SF SP special editions priced at INR 80,726 and INR 88,857 respectively. The flagship Gixxer SF Fi (MotoGP Edition) with Advanced Fuel Injection System is also now available in select Indian cities for a price of INR 93,499. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

Claimed as the ‘Street Sport’ motorcycle by Suzuki, the Gixxer SP (special edition) costs around Rs. 8000 more than the regular variant, featuring fancy exterior paint jobs of Matt Fibroin Grey and Glass Sparkle Black, SP logo decals, race flag and red pin stripes, and two-tone seats. While the Gixxer SF (‘Sport Fairing’) is a fully faired (aerodynamically enhanced) version that is almost 4 kgs heavier and taller by 305 mm than the naked variant, and is also available with Special edition treatment now.

Both the Gixxer SP and SF SP variants are powered by the a 154.9 cc 4-stroke, air-cooled single-cylinder carburetted engine producing a max output of 14.8 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm peak torque at 6,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard across all Gixxer variants.

The newly-launched Gixxer SF Fi, on the other hand, replaces the engine’s carburetor with a micro-processor based fuel injection system. Despite that, the output is identical to the carburetted variants, but may score better in terms of fuel efficiency, throttle response, and better start-up in all weather conditions. The SF Fi is available only in the MotoGP Edition featuring exterior decals and paint jobs mimicking Suzuki’s MotoGP racer bikes. As of now, the Gixxer SF Fuel Injected is limited to select dealerships at Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

The Suzuki Gixxer SP and SF SP primarily takes on the likes of Yamaha FZ FI V2.0 series and TVS Apache RTR 160, while the regular Gixxer competes against Bajaj Pulsar 150 and Honda CB Unicorn.

FI is much better in terms of maintenance cost and throttle response.
developed countries have been using FI in all vehicles since decades but its just started in poor india. marginal cost increase is totally worth the benefits of FI. you never have to take care of FI no matter what weather condition you start bike and how long bike has been unused. moreover the ideal tuning is fixed at factory which never has to adjusted again. FI intelligently decides ideal mixture of fuel/air based on riding speed and throttle.
