Stylish, uber-cool variant available with both manual and auto-shift options.
There are numerous cars that break-into the market and disappear after some years, but very few stay intact with huge customer base and popularity. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is one such car that is here to stay forever! Posting strong sales figures consistently even after almost two decades of existence, this car knows the right to catch the imagination of a typical new car aspirant in India. With 14,176 units sold last month, Maruti is adding a new variant VXi+ to perk up its sales in the new year.
Basically a rebadged ‘Stingray’ edition launched a couple of years back, the new Wagon R VXi+ trim is priced at INR 4.69 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Visually, the uncluttered projector headlamps and chrome embellishments over the grille and at rear marks a huge differentiation from the regular Wagon R. This is complemented by sharper bumper design, side skirts, and sporty alloy pattern, along with a catchy roof spoiler at the rear. The interiors of the car is largely the same.
There is no change to the powertrain specifications either. The new VXi+ is powered by the same 1.0-litre K-series petrol engine producing 68 PS at 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm peak torque at 3,500 rpm. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or an AMT (Auto Gear Shift) option. Other key technologies on offer with the Wagon R is dual front-airbags and ABS with EBD. A new ‘Midnight Blue’ exterior paint scheme has been added to the range, as a part of 2017 updates.
