For enhanced braking safety and protection from locking-up of wheels, ABS system supports the existing hydraulically actuated 298 mm front and 220 mm rear floating disk brakes. The company says that the floating-mount disc brakes in both the wheels provide good resistance to heat distortion and absorbs the fluctuations, thereby enabling good operational touch.
The new YZF-R3 features no other mechanical updates. It is powered by the same 321 cc DOHC twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 42 PS of max power at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox with wet, multiple clutch. The engine features sophisticated technology like the lightweight and strong forged piston and offset cylinders that reduce friction for more power.
In India, Yamaha is likely to bring in the MY2017 R3 to the Indian market, although no official confirmation has been made so far. A slight hike is local prices is also expected once the model-year update takes place. The R3 is locally assembled in India by the company since 2015.
The 2017 Yamaha YZF-R3, once launched, will take on the likes of the new 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390, and Benelli TnT 300.
