Mini Clubman Goes On Sale For INR 37.90 Lakhs
Available only in ‘Cooper S’ trim with a 2.0-litre petrol turbo engine; CBU import from UK.
The second-generation Mini Clubman is one of the largest-yet-compact model in the Mini line-up. It debuts in the Indian market for the first time, in the exclusive ‘Cooper S’ avatar with a price tag of INR 37.90 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Clubman will rival luxury compact models like Mercedes-Benz A-Class, BMW 1-Series, and Volvo V40.
Design wise, the Clubman is more of a ‘shooting brake’ concept, marked by stretched silhouette, an elongated roof line and elegant body lines, and a sharp-cut rear. The side-opening split doors at the rear is an another unique statement, the Clubman being a “6-door” car! But the front fascia is still a mix of classic ‘Mini’ styling with current trends – circular headlamps, hexagonal grille with loads of chrome embellishments, but supplemented with a sculpted ‘power dome’ bonnet. Both front and rear lamps get LED treatments with integrated DRLs. The 17-inch Vent Spoke alloys and chrome-finish dual exhaust tailpipes add more flavor to the car’s styling.
Moving inside, the new Clubman boasts a sophisticated-yet-classy cabin with either Carbon Black or Satellite Grey along cloth or leatherette finish interiors. But the biggest talking point of this car is the interior space. The generous cabin can seat five passengers without any issue. Plus, additional an 360 litres of space for luggage as well. This practicality makes this car unique once again, amid its rivals. The sporty steering wheel and large-rounded centre-console design is complemented by a 6.5-inch ‘MINI Visual Boost’ infotainment system. The 2-door boot can be remotely-accessed or via foot wave gesture.
Under the hood of this ‘bulky Cooper’ is a 2.0-litre ‘TwinPower’ 4-cylinder Turbo petrol engine rated at 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque at peak demand. Paired to an 8-speed Steptronic auto gearbox, the Clubman can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 7.2 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 228 kmph. Some of the tech features as a part of standard package are Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), dual front airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, and Park Distance Control (rear parking sensors).
For an extra premium, buyers can also opt for optional packages which includes 18-inch Star Spoke, Black Matt roof rails, heads-up 8.8-inch touchscreen Navigation System display, Harman Kardon audio, etc.
