The updated 2017 model-year Triumph Bonneville T100 has reached the Indian market just few week after its global debut at the Intermot 2016, Germany. One of the most affordable and lighter Bonneville ever, the T100 brings out a simple-yet-elegant, less intimidating retro styling with shorter wheelbase than the T120 model. Visually, the new chrome-finish mirrors and mudguard stays, LED tail, and muscular handlebar grabs one’s attention with ease.

Heralded as the most-user friendly Bonneville, the T100 features low seating with relaxed and more upright riding position. The chassis is also new, while the rear suspension is a bit longer, thereby influencing ride handling and comfort levels. Available in three paint options namely Aegean Blue-White, Intense Orange-White, and Jet Black, the coach lines are exclusively hand painted as well. Buyers can also opt for over 150 accessories including tank bags, heated grips, leather seat, leather canvas mix panniers, a grab rail and a centre stand.

Power wise, the Triumph Bonneville T100 is powered by all-new ‘high torque’ 900cc water-cooled parallel twin engine generating up to 55 PS of power at 5,900 rpm and 80 Nm of max torque at 3,230 rpm. The torque rating up by almost 18% from the outgoing model, along with improved fuel-efficiency and deeper exhaust notes.

Paired to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine features ride-by-wire control and share the exact hardware and tuning with the T100’s bigger sibling Street Twin. A standard traction control system, ABS, and a slipper clutch are new additions, while the cruise control feature is available as a option.

The new T100 will serve as an entry-level model in the Bonneville line-up, with no real alternatives as such in our market. The point is, these ‘modern classics’ are trying to bring back the good old days without missing today’s biking fun, safety, and reliability.
